Introduction

The UK police rolled in with their BMW R1250RTs — fully kitted and polished. But then came something unexpected:
American police vehicles.
A US Customs & Border Protection car and a full NYPD SUV — left‑hand drive, full gadget setup, cameras, bars, the lot. Proper American muscle right in London.
Meeting Mike – Mental Health Motorbike
Among all the noise and chrome, one moment genuinely stood out.
I met Mike, a member of Mental Health Motorbike, a charity dedicated to supporting bikers through conversation, connection, and trained mental‑health first aiders.
Their mission:
- 1,000+ mental‑health first aiders across UK bike meets
- Breaking stigma
- Helping riders talk
- Being there for people “on the edge” who might just need a chat over a cuppa
Mike explained how even a simple conversation about your first bike can be the moment someone needs to get through a tough day. Powerful stuff.
