Everyone piles into the festival side and misses this. Right next to it there is a quiet riverside walk where you can sit and watch the Thames go by.

This is the Coaling Jetty. It is Grade II star listed, 110 metres long, and it was built between 1929 and 1932 to feed the power station. Ships came up the Thames from South Wales and the North East and it took 240 tonnes of coal an hour off them, right up until the station was switched off in 1983. It opened to the public for the first time in its history as part of the redevelopment, and it is now a riverside garden with benches and food huts.
Battersea Power Station Pier sits alongside it, so the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers pulls in a few feet away. One of them sneaks up behind me at the end.
The river here is nothing like the Chao Phraya in Bangkok, which is packed with express boats and barges all day long. This one is just quiet.
