New Hand Luggage Rules: What UK Flyers Need to Know for 2027

New hand luggage rules are coming for some UK flyers, but the free overhead cabin bag many people are talking about is not what the final law says. I explain what the EU regulation actually gives passengers, who is covered, and what changes from 23 October 2027.

In this video: • Free personal item: up to 40 by 30 by 15 centimetres or able to fit under the seat • Why the under-seat bag becomes free on covered flights • Why the bigger overhead bag is not automatically free • Which UK-to-EU flights are covered • Why nothing changes for your half-term or Christmas flight this year • Current GOV.UK liquids guidance, including airports that may allow up to 2 litres

The exact airline and airport details still matter. Check your airline's own baggage page and your departure and connecting airports before you travel.
