Cheapest Petrol Near Me: Google Maps Now Shows Real Prices (Here’s the Catch)

Searching Google Maps for the cheapest petrol near me now shows real petrol and diesel prices, station by station, right across the UK. But Google did not find those prices, and that £40 a year saving is not a promise.

In this video I go through what Google and Waze actually launched on 8 October 2026 and where the prices really come from: the government's Fuel Finder scheme, backed by a law that makes petrol stations report every price change within thirty minutes. I cover who checks it, what the £40 figure really means, the seven apps that already showed this information, how to read an old time stamp, and what to do if the pump price does not match the app.

If you have been searching for cheapest petrol near me, petrol prices UK or fuel prices on Google Maps, this explains how the new feature works and where the data comes from. It covers Fuel Finder UK, the Motor Fuel Price (Open Data) Regulations 2025, finding cheap petrol and diesel near you, and how to report a wrong fuel price.

Presented by an AI version of me, in my own cloned voice. Maps in this video are illustrative, not live prices.
