Our conservatory was really hot in summer and really cold in winter, and heaters weren't cutting it. So me and the missus went for electric underfloor heating across the 5 by 3 metre floor. I followed the job over two days: the old floor comes up, 6mm insulation boards go down, the electrician tests and lays the heated mat, 8 bags of self levelling compound go on, then underlay and a grey laminate floor.
Then we switch it on. The room started at about 13 degrees, was at 17 when I checked, and the thermostat is set to 24. The whole house was running off my EcoFlow battery backup at the time, which is part of why I went electric. It will cost more to run than connecting to the central heating, and I say so in the video. The plan is to offset some of that with the battery backup and solar.
